How Tradie Hub Connect (ABN 69 452 047 624), trading as TradieHub Connect, handles personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
Directly from you:
- Identity and contact: name, email, phone, business/trading name, ABN, addresses.
- Profile: trade, specialties, experience, description, photos/logo, service area, availability, rates.
- Credentials: trade licence and insurance details and the documents you upload, including expiry dates.
- Job and engagement data: listings, applications, agreements, hours submitted, completion notes and photos.
- Communications: messages, attachments, reviews, dispute submissions and support enquiries.
- Account security: a password stored only as a salted hash — never in readable form.
Automatically or from others:
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser, pages viewed, timestamps, error logs.
- Payment and payout status, and identity-verification outcomes, from Stripe.
- Email delivery events from our email provider.
We do not collect or store card numbers, CVV codes or bank account numbers. Those go directly to Stripe. We hold only Stripe identifiers and status.
Please don't send us sensitive information (health, biometric, criminal record, union or political membership) unless we specifically ask for it. If you do, you consent to us handling it for the purpose it was provided.
2. Why we collect it
To create and administer accounts; verify email addresses; review licence and insurance documents; match businesses with subcontractors; enable applications, hiring, agreements and messaging; calculate and process fees, payments and payouts; manage subscriptions; send transactional notifications, reminders and digests; investigate disputes, fraud, safety and misuse; comply with legal, tax and record-keeping obligations; and analyse and improve the platform.
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may be unable to verify you, let you apply for or post work, or pay you.
3. What other users can see
- Public/other users: your trading name, trade, suburb and state, description, photo/logo, verification badges, rating, review count and completed job count.
- A business you apply to: your application content, proposed rate, availability, experience and credential verification statuses.
- A party you're engaged with: the agreement, messages, documents and photos in that job's workspace, and the payment status for that job.
- Never shown to other users: your password, uploaded licence/insurance documents themselves, admin notes, other users' payment data, and your full street address (except as needed for a job you're engaged on).
Administrators can access accounts, documents and records as needed to operate the platform, verify credentials and resolve disputes. Access is logged in an audit trail.
4. Who we disclose to
- Stripe — payment, subscription and payout processing, and identity verification.
- Resend — sending transactional email.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — running the platform and its database.
- Professional advisers, insurers, auditors — where reasonably required.
- Law enforcement, regulators or courts — where required or authorised by law, or to protect safety, rights or property.
- A purchaser — if the business or its assets are sold or restructured.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it for marketing.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some providers store or process data outside Australia (including the United States and other jurisdictions where Stripe, Resend and our hosting providers operate). By using the platform you agree to that disclosure, and acknowledge that we take reasonable steps to require appropriate protection but cannot guarantee an overseas recipient will handle the information in a way that complies with the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. Security and retention
We use measures including hashed passwords, HTTP-only session cookies, encrypted transport, role-based access controls, ownership checks on records and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not warrant that unauthorised access will never occur; transmission over the internet is at your own risk.
We keep personal information while your account is active and afterwards as needed for legal, tax, insurance, audit and dispute purposes — generally at least seven years for transaction and verification records. We de-identify or destroy information when it is no longer needed.
Aggregated, de-identified statistics (which cannot reasonably identify you) may be retained and used indefinitely.
7. Access, correction and complaints
You can view and update most of your information in the app. To request access to or correction of other information, email Tradiehub.aus@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity, and may charge a reasonable cost for retrieving archived records. We'll respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days.
You can ask us to close your account and delete your information; we will do so except where we are required or entitled to retain it (for example transaction, verification, dispute and tax records, and content already shared with another party).
To complain about how we've handled your information, email us with the details. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
8. Cookies and communications
We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you logged in, and basic analytics/error logging to keep the platform working. Blocking cookies will prevent you logging in.
Transactional emails (applications, hiring, payments, expiry reminders, security and account notices) are part of the service and cannot be opted out of while your account is active. Any optional marketing email will include an unsubscribe link.
9. Children and changes
The platform is for business use by people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from children; if we learn we have, we'll delete it.
We may update this Policy by publishing a new version here. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use after publication means you accept the updated Policy.
